The Break:
Joaquina Beach should have insinuated itself in the global surf world by now due to its hosting of many professional contests on the world tour over the years. The wave itself is a sand-bottom left semi-point of shifting sandbars off a rocky headland. On its best days, it can hold big — up to double overhead — and can get heavy.-surfline.com
The Swell:
A variety of spots from the north end of the beach can handle any swell direction and any tide, up to 10 feet or more, and on its best days it can be spectacularly long and hollow. Picks up lots of swell, and usually always something to ride.-surfline.com
The Locals:
No matter where you are, Brazil’s junior talent pool is heavy and hungry. Jadson Andre has already made the Oakley Pro Junior Global Challenge cut via the Australasian qualifier, ensuring a greater presence from the Brazilan’s for 2009. Keep an eye out for Brazil’s top groms… Thiago Camarao,
Peterson Crisanto,
Miguel Pupo, and Franklin Serpa, they’ll be gunning for that ticket to Bali.
