Florianòpolis, Brazil, June 1, 2010 – Day one of the 2010 Oakley Pro Junior Brazil in Praia da Joaquina, Florianópolis was pounded with four-to-six foot waves and a strong current for the opening round of the event. 36 surfers launched the Brazilian under-20 title race today in sunny, but cold conditions as the 16 seeded athletes watched anxiously awaiting for their opponents to be declared. Port Alfred – Shaun Joubert from Mossel Bay made it a hat trick by winning his third Oakley Pro Junior in a row today in excellent surf at Port Alfred. Despite coming up against a very determined and on-form Chad Du Toit from Durban, Joubert fought hard all the way till the end and took the win from Du Toit in a seesaw final that saw the lead switch after almost every exchange.
