As the current ASP world junior champion, Maui’s Kai Barger was definitely the man to beat going into Lowers. Unfortunately for the rest of the juniors at the competition, he still is. Kai’s near-flawless front side attacks paired with his impressive backhand repertoire gave him a combo score in the final leaving the three remaining surfers in a scrap for second. Truth be told, there aren’t a lot of kinks in Kai’s armor-he’s competitively ruthless, naturally talented, and holds with him a burning desire to win.  Don’t expect Kai to hold back in Bali.
