The Break:
While during the winter months Balneário Camboriú might seem like a relaxed city nestled on the south coast of Brazil, don’t be fooled. Once the high-rise hotels and plush resorts fill up during the summer months, the city’s population swells from about 95,000 to over 700,000 beach-going tourists and vacationers. The beach consists mostly of sandy beach breaks, dishing out both lefts and rights for a fun, crowd-dodging time.
The Swell:
Balneário Camboriú enjoys a little southeast, east, or northeast…basically whatever it can get. Throw some west or easterly winds on top of that and the package is complete.
The Locals:
No matter where you are, Brazil’s junior talent pool is heavy and hungry. Jadson Andre has already made the Oakley Pro Junior Global Challenge cut via the Australasian qualifier, ensuring a greater presence from the Brazilan’s for 2009. Keep an eye out for Brazil’s top groms… Thiago Camarao,
Peterson Crisanto,
Miguel Pupo, and Franklin Serpa, they’ll be gunning for that ticket to Bali.
