Thoughts on OPJ Global Challnege: “Oakley puts on a great show. Straddie has the best waves and it’s sick they came here. I think Oakley is doing a great thing putting a lot more money in junior surfing. I can’t wait to get over to Bali and compete at Keramas. It looks like it goes off. And the whole compound looks fun.”

Surfer Hot 100 Interview: Life at the Top
Owen Wright is a fierce competitor. Kicking off his ‘09 season with three back to back to back wins, which included defeating Jadson Andre (BRA), the current number-two rated junior surfer in the world, there’s no doubt that he’s on a upswing in the contest department. Growing up among the barrels and punchy beach breaks of Australia’s New South Wales south coast has turned him into the versatile surfer he is today, and his composure in big surf, proficiency in the tube, and aerial prowess above the lip makes him a threat in any type of competitive situation. Current Australian U/18 Champion, Owen already has an ISA U/16 title under his belt. And now he’s off the in Bali to compete in the Global Challenge for a crack at the richest junior prize purse in some of the world’s best waves. |
